I think Yorkshire has an absolute fabulous opportunity to get out into the fresh air get some walking done, go for a nice pub lunch, take a dog with you, it’s a nice family time. There is also in a short driving distance another pub with a lovely beer garden, nice and relaxing. There are nice coastal places and seaside resorts within a reasonable driving distance, probably about an hour away. My friends visiting the park think it’s well-kept and relaxed and the lodge is of a high standard, they love the hot tub, nice and relaxing with a glass of prosecco. It’s just a break, change of scenery. I think people have a misconception, they think a lodge is like a static caravan and it’s not. It’s to a better specification, they are bigger they are wider than a static caravan. You have all the cooking facilities, lounge area, dining area. I think it’s a lifestyle, it’s a total rest and relaxation, I think it gets people away from busy life. We have seen people arriving who have had a new baby, only a few weeks old, I think it’s a bit of a getaway, nice time away from the family and to spend some quality time together. Our experience with Croft Park and letting the lodges was really good. We have management that’s here on site so we don’t have to worry about anything. We are in day to day contact with the park managers and they take care of everything for us. So as an investor it’s an absolutely fantastic business arrangement.
We live near Leeds an hour away from here. We originally wanted to buy a motorhome but when we were at the Harrogate Motorhome Show my wife wanted to take a look at lodges and we were invited to Croft Park where there was a lodge in situ. We came and had a look and we liked it so we bought a lodge instead of a motorhome with also the opportunity to let Hoseasons have it and make some money from it. We were advised by Hoseasons to have a hot tub in, which we did probably about 3 months later. From the day the hot tub went in, we never stayed at the lodge ever again. It has been a good investment for us and I’d recommend it to most people, it’s a good deal. From our point of view it’s a business for us, the lodges are given to Hoseasons Croft Park, they manage it 100%, they just send us a monthly paycheck. A lot of our weekend uptake was from people whit small children who wanted to get away from it all. We had bookings form elder people with dogs who wanted to walk, I think we get a lot of bookings from people who are interested in hunting, shooting and fishing, there is a shooting range a couple of miles up the road, there is seafishing, there are some great golf courses and some nice coastal walks.
